A little Purcell is pretty "swell"...

Here with a performance of the English composer, Henry Purcell (1659-1695). Purcell was renowned for his originality and incredible melodic capabilities. He stands as one of the great (perhaps underrated) Baroque composers for the keyboard.
This piece is called 'Suite in G major' and it comprises 4 movements - Prelude, Almand, Corant and Minuet:-
The prelude sets the harmonic and thematic foundation for the following 3 movements. These movements are based on Baroque dance styles -
The Almand: in 4/4 time, is a stately German dance.
The Corant: A slow, french dance in 3/2 time.
The Minuet: A stately 3/4 time piece that is simple, ornamented and repetitive.
I do hope you enjoy this suite - originally composed for harpsichord but performed, today, on a digital piano.
God bless you,
Mark Dowling
