Biography

Mark Dowling is a London-based pianist, educator, conductor, and church musician whose work spans performance, music direction, and education. Active across classical, jazz, liturgical, and contemporary music, he combines a varied performing career with a strong commitment to music teaching and community music-making.

Alongside his performing work, Mark teaches one-to-one piano lessons and whole-class music across primary and secondary education. He currently works with Bromley Youth Music Trust and Richmond Music Trust, helping young musicians develop confidence, creativity, and strong musical foundations.

Mark is Music Director at The Barn Church, where he leads and develops the church’s musical life through choral direction, accompaniment, arranging, and the coordination of volunteer musicians. He is also resident organist at Raleigh Road United Church and Assistant Music Director of Hidden Voices Choir. Previously, he served as Music and Worship Coordinator at Battersea Fields Parish, specialising in contemporary worship and ensemble leadership.

As a performer, Mark appears regularly as a solo pianist and collaborative musician, and performs with ensembles including Bromley Concert Band, The Dowling Trio, and White House Big Band under the direction of Frank Renton. He also studies conducting with John Landor, continuing to develop his work in orchestral and choral direction.
